Dr. Larry Benz
Founder Confluent Health
Dr. Laurence “Larry” Benz is a serial healthcare entrepreneur whose ventures have reshaped musculoskeletal and allied-health services nationwide from his Kentucky base.
After serving as a U.S. Army Captain (Meritorious Service Medal), he founded Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team (KORT) in 1987, scaling it into a market-leading outpatient physical therapy network before a successful exit to Select Medical. He then launched PTD Equity, seeding the portfolio that became Confluent Health—now comprising over 800 clinics under premier regional brands, a tele-rehab platform (MOVI), Evidence In Motion postgraduate programs, Fit For Work/WorkSTEPS occupational medicine, IncreMedical post-acute optimization, and the national PTPN provider network.
Benz continues to expand access to care and create jobs. In 2024, he joined Dental Care Alliance’s board, later becoming Executive Chairman and now CEO of the 400-practice organization. His investments also span home health, pharmaceuticals, analytics startups, youth development, and real estate.
A nationally recognized thought leader, Benz has delivered over 250 keynotes and academic lectures, co-authored the bestseller Called to Care, and earned the profession’s highest honor as a Catherine Worthingham Fellow. He chairs the University of Louisville Board of Trustees, serves on the UofL Health and Athletic Association boards, and has received numerous awards for business innovation and servant leadership.
